Conference Components:

Rooted Ministry offers a unique, simple annual conference for both youth ministers and parents of teenagers. Rooted Ministry begins with the Gospel as the starting point and considers all matters in student ministry and youth culture from that axis. These conferences feature great preaching, engaging biblical teaching, practical workshops, sincere worship and the most intimate atmosphere you’ve ever encountered at a conference. Just the Gospel, relationships and conversations.

Rooted Ministry organizes our annual conferences for parents and youth ministers to offer great teaching and an ideal venue for relationships and the interchange of ideas. The hope is that attendees will leave feeling that they learned a great deal, both from the program and from conversations.

As we experience the pains of a perishing, defiled, and failing world, our hope can feel distant or idle. Yet, in Christ, we are born again to a hope that is both living and active. We no longer have to count our trials as foes, but can rejoice in a hope which does not put us to shame, knowing it is offering us a gift more precious than gold -- a tried and true faith. As we survey 1 Peter together, our prayer is that we would have renewed eyes to see that which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us by our living hope!

Conference Location: Redeemer Kansas City - Midtown, Kansas City, MO

Plenary Speakers

Join us for plenary speakers including Jared Wilson, Dr. Michelle Reyes, Cameron Cole, Kendal Conner, and Clark Fobes.

Workshops

The workshop involves 30-45 minutes of instruction from the speaker as well as discussion time, for two different tracks: youth ministry and parenting. Workshop details can be found here.

Meals & Dinner Groups:

Each year, we offer several meals for our attendees to connect and fellowship with one another throughout the conference. One dinner and a boxed lunch are included in your registration fee.

One night attendees will have the option to attend a dinner group at a local restaurant. Youth ministry teams practicing in various contexts lead the dinner group and share how they do ministry in that context.

Pre-Conference Options:

Join us for extra fellowship and teaching for specific groups of people, whether new to youth ministry, working in an Asian-American church, or those interested in becoming Rooted Writers.

New to Youth Ministry

For the first time, we are offering a New to Youth Ministry Lunch in place of the New to Youth Ministry Pre-conference!

This lunch will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM, just before the start of the conference and it'll be located on-site. We invite all first or second year youth pastors and volunteers to join us and our Rooted Mentors as we break bread together and dialogue about the joys and challenges that new youth pastors face as they navigate preaching the good news of Jesus in ever-changing cultural situations.

Lunch will be provided; all you need to do is sign up here.

Asian-American Church

Join us for extra fellowship and teaching for people specifically working in an Asian-American context.

For the fifth year, we are offering a pre-conference specifically for volunteers and youth ministers in the Asian-American church. This pre-conference will be led by Dr. Michelle Reyes, Clark Fobes and Kevin Yi and held on October 6 from 12pm - 3pm. Lunch will be included. Join us for a one-of-a-kind conference experience designed to encourage us to press forward in gospel-centered youth ministry for the Asian-American church.

The cost of this pre-conference is $35.

If you forgot to register for the pre-conference during regular conference registration, please do so through this checkout page.

We are Rooted Ministry

We are a non-profit group of practicing youth pastors from all over the U.S. who work to equip and empower churches and parents to faithfully disciple students to lifelong faith in Jesus Christ. Our vision is to transform youth ministry so that every student receives a grace-filled, gospel-centered, and Bible-saturated discipleship in the church and the home.

We provide many types of resources to support churches and parents in this endeavor, including a blog, podcasts, conference, curriculum, training, local community connections for youth pastors, and resources

Rooted Ministry espouses a simple approach to youth ministry, based on our understanding of scripture and validated by research on effective models for cultivating sustainable faith in young people. Therefore, we emphasize the following foundations for youth ministry:

  1. Gospel Centrality - faithfully proclaiming the good news of God's unconditional love for sinners through Christ.
  2. Theological depth through expository, biblical teaching - equipping students with a biblical worldview.
  3. Relational discipleship - pursuing all facets of ministry in the context of caring relationships with students.
  4. Partnership with parents - educating, equipping, and collaborating with parents in the discipleship of their kids.
  5. Intergenerational integration - including students among all the generations of the church.
