Conference Components:

Rooted Ministry offers a unique, simple annual conference for both youth ministers and parents of teenagers. Rooted Ministry begins with the Gospel as the starting point and considers all matters in student ministry and youth culture from that axis. These conferences feature great preaching, engaging biblical teaching, practical workshops, sincere worship and the most intimate atmosphere you’ve ever encountered at a conference. Just the Gospel, relationships and conversations.

Rooted Ministry organizes our annual conferences for parents and youth ministers to offer great teaching and an ideal venue for relationships and the interchange of ideas. The hope is that attendees will leave feeling that they learned a great deal, both from the program and from conversations.

Because the conference is taking place in our hometown, we do anticipate a sell-out, so we encourage you to register early.

Conference Location: 2017 6th Avenue North Birmingham, AL 35203

When we originally set the date, I think we all thought COVID would be a distant memory, or that was our hope. Then came the delta variant. Over the last several weeks and months, we have talked to health experts, ministries who have successfully hosted larger events, our board and steering committees, and we have prayed boldly about how to keep everyone safe.

We have youth pastors, volunteers and parents traveling in from nearly 30 different states across the country. Given that people will be traveling from so many different states, all with different protocols, we wanted to clearly outline the protocols we have put in place out of love for all of our attendees, speakers and volunteers.

In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 we will have the following safety protocols in place:

  • We are requiring all attendees to wear a mask or face shield when in the building. This is also the current policy of our host church, so we kindly ask that you comply. There are several courtyards around the building if you need a mask break at anytime. You can remove the mask for food and drink consumption, but please put it back on afterwards. Our speakers will not be masked when giving their talks, but they will be masked when they are not speaking.
  • There will be hand sanitizer throughout the building for attendees to use.
  • The left side of the pews in the Nave (main sanctuary where the plenary talks will be held) will be designated section social distancing. We will have every other pew roped off so that you can be extra spaced out from those around you. If you feel more comfortable in a socially distanced environment, we encourage you to use the pews to the left.

Thank you so much for being willing to comply with these protocols. It is our hope and prayer to keep all of you safe as well as the families and loved ones you return to after the conference.

We are all looking forward to being in fellowship with each one of you at Rooted 2021, and we will continue to pray for all of you over the course of the next two weeks.

Our refund policy is 100% of the registration fee minus any processing fees on or before September 30. After that we can no longer issue refunds. Please email [email protected] with any questions.

We can't wait to see you on October 7th!

Plenary Speakers

Join us for plenary speakers including Dr. Russell Moore, Tish Harrison Warren, Rebecca McLaughlin, Owen Lee, Cameron Cole, Sedrick Moore, Charlotte Getz, and Davis Lacey.

The workshop involves 30-45 minutes of instruction from the speaker as well as discussion time, for two different tracks: youth ministry and parenting. Workshop details can be found here.

Meals & Dinner Groups:

Each year, we offer several meals for our attendees to connect and fellowship with one another throughout the conference. One dinner and a boxed lunch are included in your registration fee.

One night attendees will have the option to attend a dinner group at a local restaurant. Youth ministry teams practicing in various contexts lead the dinner group and share how they do ministry in that context. All dine-arounds will take place at the Pizitz Food Hall (1821 2nd Ave N) this year.

You can check out the many great restaurants located at the Pizitz Food Hall here

We are Rooted Ministry

We are a non-profit group of practicing youth pastors from all over the U.S. who work to equip and empower churches and parents to faithfully disciple students to lifelong faith in Jesus Christ. Our vision is to transform youth ministry so that every student receives a grace-filled, gospel-centered, and Bible-saturated discipleship in the church and the home.

We provide many types of resources to support churches and parents in this endeavor, including a blog, podcasts, conference, curriculum, training, local community connections for youth pastors, and resources

Rooted Ministry espouses a simple approach to youth ministry, based on our understanding of scripture and validated by research on effective models for cultivating sustainable faith in young people. Therefore, we emphasize the following foundations for youth ministry:

  1. Gospel Centrality - faithfully proclaiming the good news of God's unconditional love for sinners through Christ.
  2. Theological depth through expository, biblical teaching - equipping students with a biblical worldview.
  3. Relational discipleship - pursuing all facets of ministry in the context of caring relationships with students.
  4. Partnership with parents - educating, equipping, and collaborating with parents in the discipleship of their kids.
  5. Intergenerational integration - including students among all the generations of the church.
